in new york we have a heavy jamacian population. and it's rare to find jamacian jw's . seems they are very close knit culturally. but i have ran into a few that are jw's . in the last year or so. and talked with a few at lenght. on thing i got out of them ,was that in jamacia the mag's and books are still being sold for a fixed price. they gave me the old well in different counties yiou have different laws, line. i asked them if there is a law in jamacia about giving away something ie mag;s , food , money, anything. they had no answer. john

Should the WTS be paying minimum wage & taxes for full-time volunteers?
by Deleted inhey y'all.
the thread (via free minds) on "the real truth facing aging witnesses" has me back on one of my old topics.
namely, that full-time sales people, administrative and factory workers of a religious publishing company must be provided for when they retire - and i believe they should be paid minimum wage to boot!

deleted : wow that site you linked has a lot of info that is applable to the wt > it's a lot to read and i'll need to finish it. i think it's totally possible these interstate commerce laws may soon hurt groups like the wt, keep in mind the more ppl complain to the gov't , the loop holes these religious groups use can be closed . didn't the wt go from $14or $20 a month to $100 a month for bethelites. because of some law precribing it. if not for that law bethelites would still be getting $20 A MONTH i'm sure. it seens that church scandels are coming more and more to the forefront. people are getting tired of getting suckered. are these people really sueing the scientoligists, or some kind of other court action. if so i think it will affect the wt and others. john

Elder visits after disassociating?
by davidsf ini heard that after a jw has been disfellowshipped, elders will still periodically visit the person, once a year?, to see if his situation has changed and might be interested in studying again.
my question is, what if a jw disassociated himself?
some elders i have been avoiding for 10+ years discovered where i live and tried to visit me.

yea maverick idea is good. i like it alot and it does work they are scared crap to talk with me. but on the other foot a regestered noterized letter. to the hall telling them if they come to your house again will force you to go to family court and get a order of protection for them to keep away from you. this is very effective and you don't need a lawyer. just a day at the court house. the best part about an order of protection is once in force . is all you have to do is call the police and the person gets arrested. just the threat of this will make them back off. john

i've been inviting the jw's over for years, they never can seem to find my house even with the big address numbers right on the mail box. i guess after they here the questions i asked them, when i found them in the street. they realize they are not qualified as ministers as they thought, and will get trashed if they came over. by the way i allways offer to make lunch or snacks. john

Is It Possible To Reason With A Typical Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus infrom what i can see, it's nearly impossible to reason with a witness, even if you might consider them somewhat intelligent.

funky ; with that reasoning , we all would be speaking german today and sayin heil hitler . faulty reasoning. i'm liberal to an extent. but the bible does say the gov'ts are ministers of gods laws.i'll tell you if i was around in ww2 i would have joined up without question , veitman and iraq maybe not. but i would rather fight than sit there in some prison being a maytag getting it in the ass , and at the same time knowing my wife and kids are getting raped and killed because my country could not get enough men to fight for their homes and families. read your old testament win lose or draw, the jews most allways gave a fight. and till we live in a peacful world it's a nessary evil. john

ijt great post and you sum it up well, it's not that i'm breaking out the wine. and i agree that the so called annointed should be proxies in prison for these boys. jr brown would make a good maytag, for some goon. it's just the line has to be drawn some were. with the wt, that's why i agree with banning the wt world wide so in 10-20 years we wouldn't here about how some kid was turned into a 5 yr maytag for the wt. i know some here get mad at me when i agree that the wt is banne3d in countries like ubeckastain etc. but it's better to let a few hundred older jw suffer for the wt than for generation of 1000's to come which asw allready happened 1000x 's over in the last 60 years. there is no simple answer. and i'm sure jesus is not happy about how the wt has sent young jw's to jail for 100 of 1000's of years . and i'm no war monger. i hate war but till jesus returns, its a fact of life. john

good throw them in jail or send them to north korea, teach them freedom is not free . if all the south koreans were jw's the north would have marched in there years ago. god dam jw's want to have all the constatutional freedoms . but will not to a thing to up hold them. does any one have the figures on the great work the jw's are doing in north korea. i'm sure it's a big fat zero. i say all jw's including the gb should have to go to north korea and lets see how many come back. since they like to be purseacuted so much. what a bunch of hypocrites. john

bottom line is that the wt uses any legal way to fleese the flock . i'm sure if some hi power law firm or gov't ie france, want to take the wt down to earth it could be done. and i feel it will happen in the united states in the next 50 years. john

Elder Comes To My Mother's House To Inquire of Minimus & Family
by minimus inmy mom told me yesterday that my friend (while growing up) who is an elder again, (after years of mental problems), came to her house and inquired as to how my family and i are doing.
he said we have become a subject of conversation at a recent get together..... of course, my mother started crying, told him to ask me himself and told him she did not wish to talk about this subject since it severely depresses her.
he backed off but shortly asked again.
